20181018 - Nashville Firefighters Pipes & Drums / Tailgate Brewery - Beer Release Party
Nashville Firefighters Pipes & Drums, part of IAFF Local 140 Honor Guard, was doing some brainstorming trying to come up with a unique idea for a fund raiser. Firefighter Jason Tant reached out to Tailgate Brewery in Nashville and together they came up with a home run idea.
A new beer was brewed with the help of sever members of the band and a few weeks later it was time to release the new brew. A unique name and tap handle were created and an event was scheduled to coincide with the 2018 Firehouse Expo.
The beer would be a Honey Blonde which would go by the name of “Skeleton Crew”, and anybody in the fire service (and most other industries) knows what that means. The term skeleton also plays into it because the Pipes & Drums band uses a skeleton in their t-shirt logos.
Numerous firefighters from Nashville, and other agencies town for the Expo, were on hand for the ceremonial reveal and many, if not all of them, purchased a pint to give it a try.
The fund raiser part comes in to play because $1 from every pint sold will be donated to Nashville Firefighters Pipes & Drums, as well as a portion from t-shirts that were designed as well.
Nashville Fire Department Director Chief William Swann was on site for the ceremonial tapping of the keg and he poured the first pint which was given to Firefighter/Bagpiper Jason Tant.
