20180728 - Ice Bucket Challenge 2 / Ashley Vickers Fundraiser
The Estate at Cherokee Dock - Ashley Vickers is a 35 year-old mother of four. She is struggling day to day with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Prior to being diagnosed, she was a pediatric nurse and wedding and event planner and is now confined to a wheelchair and has trouble finding the strength to get out of bed each morning.
A fundraiser event was planned to raise money to help the family with expenses. Part of this fundraiser was an 'Ice Bucket Challenge' in which participants worked to raise money in return for having a icy cold bucket of water dumped on their head at the event (much like a dunk tank - but colder!).
In addition to the ice bucket challenge, there was a silent auction, food trucks, music and dancing, and entertainment for the young ones. The event took place at The Estate at Cherokee Dock, former home to country music super-star Reba McEntire.
This year's participants in the Ice bucket challenge included Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto, Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan, Fire Department of Mt Juliet Chief Jamie Luffman, Mt Juliet Police Captain Tyler Chandler, and several others.
