20220326 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - Structure Fire
2055 Underwood Road - Shortly before 7:30am, Wilson County EMA Engine-5 (A shift), under the command of Lieutenant Robby Boissonneault [605] was returning from a previous incident when they observed a column of black smoke. Lt. Boissonneault advised dispatch, and headed south in the direction of the smoke.
A short while later, Engine-5 located the source of the smoke - an outbuilding, fully-involved, on a property not unknown to public safety personnel in this county. This would be, at least, the second time there had been a fire at this location.
Lt. Boissonneault advised dispatch of what he had, and asked for a standard structure fire response.
Those additional responding units were Shift Commander James Copas [600], Engine-1, Engine-6, Medic-5, Rehab-23, and the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.
One 1.75 inch handline was deployed and suppression efforts initiated. Upon their arrival, Engine 1 and 6 contributed their onboard water supply to engine 5 and a water shuttle was initiated. The nearest hydrant was greater than a mile away.
Firefighters spent a great deal of time and energy pulling the corrugated steel sheets from the structure to expose the pockets of fire within.
After a couple hours, the fire was deemed under control and extinguished and crews then picked up and returned to service.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
