20220219 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - House Fire
1769 Corinth Road - At about 11:00 p.m., 911 calls began to come in reporting a large house fire. The flames were so large, in fact, that due to the location of the address (on the county line), Wilson County and Rutherford County firefighters were both dispatched to locate and extinguish the blaze.
The first arriving units were Wilson County EMA Engine-5 & Medic-5 (B Shift) under the command of Lieutenant Tamara Felts [703]. The initial size-up reported a large structure, fully-involved, at the end of a long driveway.
Engine-3, Engine-6, Tanker-9, Shift Commander Lee Bowling [700], and Fire Chief / Deputy Director Jeremy Hobbs [901] were on the scene a short time later to assist in extinguishing the conflagration.
It was around this time that firefighters from the Almaville FD and Rutherford County Fire-Rescue Dept. arrived on the scene with a total of 6 engines and tankers. Their crews assisted with the fire while water shuttles and relay pumping up the driveway was etablished.
Having both departments operating on scene essentially more-than doubled the manpower the manpower allowing for additional (and adequate) work/rehab cycles. Wilson County Rehab-23 was on the scene and saw to the needs of the firefighters operating on the fireground.
After 2 to three hours, the fire was almost completely darkened down leaving nothing more than hotspots and the burned out shells of vehicles that could not be moved away from the fire in time.
The only occupant at the time, a man and his dogs, escaped safely. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
