20220125 - Wilson County - Pursuit / Perp Search
At approximately 11:00, a Deputy from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle wanted in connection to a string of armed robberies in another county. The driver refused to comply and attempted to elude the deputy.
As the deputy gave chase, in excess of one-hundred miles per hour, additional units joined the pursuit. The route brought them up Cainsville Road, Maddox-Simpson Parkway, Sparta Pike, and onto Interstate 40 westbound. At some point, a tire spike system was deployed, deflating some of the tires. The subjects continued to flee in the now partially disabled vehicle, at a reduced rate of speed.
As the vehicle passed the Mannheim Auto Auction, the vehicle caught fire and the driver beached it on the shoulder and three black males, dressed in all black, abandoned the vehicle and hopped the fence entering the Auction property. They then carjacked another vehicle from an auction employee and fled in an unknown direction. The security department at the Auction was able to relay to deputies that the subjects had fled to the northwest end of the property and were fleeing towards Beckwith Road.
By this point, City of Lebanon Police, City of Mount Juliet Police, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were on scene and assisting with perimeter security and the search on the ground, and THP Aviation was also on the way.
Within thirty minutes of the time the subjects fled on foot on the side of the interstate, all three were in WCSO custody and secured in the back of patrol cars.
All three subjects were transported to the Wilson County Jail.
***
These three subjects were wanted out of Coffee County (TN) for two armed robberies and a third attempted armed robbery of Check Cashing stores in the cities of Manchester, White Bluff, and Woodbury on three separate dates.
