20210712 - City of Mount Juliet - Truck Fire
Golden Bear Gateway & Rutland Dr - At about 2:15 PM, The Fire Department of Mt Juliet, along with police, were dispatched to a reported box truck on fire.
Police arrived on the scene and shut down the roadway in both directions.
The first arriving apparatus was Rescue-3 (B Shift) under the command of Lieutenant Andy Hassler [1120]. Lt Hassler advised that he had a box truck with the rear wheels on fire. Second due were Engine-104 & QRV-1 under the command of Captain Brent Blamires [1102].
As firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and expose hidden areas of the truck to be sure there was no extension, the engineers set up a nurse line from the engine.
Once the fire was deemed under control, and completely extinguished, Rescue-3 and Engine-104 broke down all lines and prepared to return to service.
There were no injuries to firefighters, police, or civilians. The driver of the truck, however, was not so lucky. Following a routine check of his driver's license, it was discovered that he had an extraditable warrant out of Texas, and they wanted him. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wilson County Jail.
The cause of the fire appears to be overheated brakes on the ear driver's side of the truck.
