20210213 - City of Mount Juliet - House Fire
1506 Sylvan Park Court - At 3:23 AM, Mt Juliet Police and Firefighters, along with an ambulance from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to a report of a house fire.
The first arriving units were officers from the Mt Juliet Police Department, and they reported that fire was visible through the window of an upstairs room.
The first due apparatus was Tower-114 (B Shift) under the command of Firefighter Caleb Roberts [Acting in charge]. When he checked on scene, initially he reported nothing showing but quickly changed that and reported his crew was in Fire Attack mode. One 1.75 inch handline was stretched to the front door and entry was made. Firefighter Roberts' crew was able to make a very fast knockdown of the second floor Room & Contents fire saving the rest of the home from destruction. There was however a considerable smoke condition. Ventilation was immediately initiated and overhaul operations were conducted in the fire room.
The second due unit was Squad-103, under the command of Lieutenant Andy Hassler [1120]. Since the fire was already knocked down, Lt. Hassler's crew went to work on salvage operations downstairs moving furniture and other possessions into another room so that any water used on the second floor would not drain down and cause unnecessary damage.
Rehab-23 also responded to the scene but was cancelled upon their arrival as the incident was placed under control.
The cause of the fire, per the occupants, was a candle. No firefighters or civilians were injured.
