20200509 - City of Mount Juliet - Overturned Auto / Shooting
1875 Golden Bear Gateway - Just a couple minutes before 7:30 pm, Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to a report of a rollover car wreck in front of the Mount Juliet High School.
The first arriving unit was Mt Juliet Police Corporal & K9 handler Chris Barth [B-20]. He reported two critical patients, one of which was going in and out of consciousness and that there was entrapment. Fire and EMS were updated with this information.
Fire Department of Mount Juliet Squad-103 (C Shift], under the command of Lieutenant Drew Noland [1130], was one of the next arriving units, along with Wilson County EMA Medic-3 & 6. The occupants were quickly evaluated, treated, extricated, and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that there had been an exchange of gunfire at some point between the Yellow Chevrolet Camaro, which now lay in the creek bed on its roof, and a gray infiniti 4-door sedan which fled northbound after the crash. The two vehicles were caught on video by a citizen's dash camera.
The traffic crash was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, due to the severity of the injuries, and the incident as a whole remains under investigation by the Mount Juliet Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
