20200306 - Tornado Recovery Effort - Day 3
84 hours after a Tornado cut right through the middle of the City of Mount Juliet taking the lives of three people, recovery efforts were well under way with great progress evident.
Volunteer organizations, church groups, and every-day citizens banded together to start the cleanup process, which included removing fallen trees and building debris.
Municipal public works teams from all over the region assisted in the removal of debris from the area by dump truck.
The National Weather Service preliminary survey has indicated that the tornado began in far western Davidson County and rapidly intensified to an EF-2 and then EF-3. It then traveled 60.13 miles on the ground at a speed of 65 miles per hour with estimated peak winds of 165 miles per hour. At its widest, the tornado is estimated to have been 0.45 miles (2,400 feet) wide. This particular tornado, the third longest tracking in Tennessee history, is credited with 220 injuries and 5 deaths.
United States President Donald J Trump was seen flying over the tornado track inside Marine One, a VH-60N White Hawk, with an escort of three MV-22 Ospreys. Air Force One was also later seen flying overhead, presumably as the President departed the region.
