20191206A - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - Vehicle Fire
IFO 412 Southwinds Drive - At 10:30am, Wilson County firefighters and Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the roadway with no exposures or hazards.
The first arriving unit was Sheriff's Deputy Corporal Steve Everett [119] . He advised his dispatch that he did in fact have a fully involved pickup truck in the roadway.
Wilson County EMA Engine-3 (C Shift), under the command of Captain Steve Fox [801], arrived a short while later and deployed one 1.75" handline to extinguish the fire.
Captain Fox made quick work of the fire and Engine-3 was able to return to service in no time at all.
The operator of the vehicle stated that the truck, a 1996 Dodge Ram, became sluggish as he made a turn and then started making a strange sound. As he looked at the dashboard, he could see a bright orange glow inside the heat/AC vents at which time he immediately stopped the vehicle and put a large amount of space between it and himself and called 911.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
