20191023 - City of Mount Juliet - Building Fire
151 Sunset Drive - At 9:20am, firefighters from the City of Mount Juliet were dispatched to an activated commercial fire alarm. A single engine responded as is the norm.
Upon the arrival of Squad-103 (C Shift), Lieutenant Drew Noland [1113] reported light smoke from the eaves of a 1 story commercial structure and requested that the incident be upgraded to a Commercial Structure Fire. With this, Engine-104, QRV-1, and Tower-114 responded to the scene.
A 360º survey of the structure revealed a small fire inside on the "A" side of the structure. Just then, the key-holder arrived on the scene and unlocked the doors.
One 1.75 inch hand-line was dry stretched to the door, and a crew made entry and extinguished the fire with a 20 lb dry chemical extinguisher.
Lieutenant Noland advised that Tower-114 could go back in service and return to quarters. A couple moments later, QRV-1 and Engine-104, under the command of Captain Mike Leal, arrived on the scene as did Chief Jamie Luffman [Chief-101].
The fire originated in a laser engraving machine and was contained to that unit. The cause remains under investigation by The Fire Department of Mount Juliet.
No firefighters or civilians were injured, and there was no structural damage to the building and the owner was allowed to immediately reoccupy.
