20190925 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - Vehicle Fire
189 Lohman Road - At 10:35 AM, Firefighters and Law Enforcement were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the driveway near a house. Engine-5, Medic-5, and Engine-3 (C Shift) responded to the scene along with two deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.
The first arriving unit was Engine-5, under the command of Lieutenant Scott Lorden [804]. Lieutenant Lorden advised dispatch he had a working vehicle fire in the driveway with possible extension to the residence.
One 1.75" handline was stretched and the blaze was quickly extinguished. Upon inspection of the structure, it was apparent that there was only thermal damage to the vinyl siding.
Following the arrival of Engine-3, Lieutenant Tamara Felts [703] conducted an interior inspection and found no further signs of extension.
The owner of the vehicle stated she was just arriving home when the vehicle lost engine power and she coasted into her driveway. She then reported smoke and flames coming form beneath the hood.
There were no injuries to firefighters or the vehicle owner, however, while extinguishing the fire, the oil cap on the valve cover of the motor let loose and flew off into the air closely followed by a large volume of hot motor oil which sprayed all over the front of Firefighter Jason Bolton. FF Bolton was uninjured because he was wearing his full Personal Protective Equipment.
