20190908 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - Structure Fire
At approximately 3:15pm, the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency and Wilson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a fire in a vacant home at 5165 Benders Ferry Road.
The first due unit, Engine-6 (A Shift), was only 5 miles away and arrived at the home in 10 minutes or less to find smoke and flames erupting from the front door.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
Additional responding units included Engine-5, Engine-3, Tanker-9, Medic-9, Rehab-23, and Acting Shift Commander, Captain Eric Eldridge [602].
Deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office reported that a dark blue or black Nissan Altima was seen leaving the scene at the time the fire broke out.
Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the origin of the fire, crews worked to disturb as little of the scene as possible. The cause of the fire is believed to be a piece of furniture that was set ablaze and thrown through one of the front windows of the house.
WCSO Detectives were requested to the scene due to suspicious nature to complete a criminal investigation in addition to the cause & origin investigation completed by Captain Kaiser [601] and Lieutenant Partridge [604].
The fire was contained to the object thrown, part of the flooring, and some of the exterior wall.
There were no injuries to any members operating on the scene.
