20190823 - Gladeville - Structure Fire
613 Shelley Dr - At approximately 6:00 PM, Wilson County EMA firefighters and a Wilson County Sheriff's Deputy were dispatched to a report of a lawnmower on fire inside of a garage.
First due units were Engine-5 (C Shift) and Medic-5. Medic-5 arrived in just a couple minutes as it was responding from quarters, just 1.3 miles down the road. Firefighter/EMT Michael May reported a fully involved detached garage extending to additional vehicles and moving towards the residence. Engine-5, under the command of Lieutenant Scott Lorden [804], was out of quarters fueling up at the time, nearly 8 miles away.
Additional responding units included Engine-3, Engine-1, Tanker-9, Fire Chief / Deputy Director Jeremy Hobbs [901], Middle Tennessee Electric, and Rehab-23.
Engine-5 arrived on the scene and immediately deployed two 1.75 inch handlines and went into rapid attack mode. Fortunately the nearest hydrant was in the neighbors front yard.
The eight firefighters on scene were able to contain the fire and extinguish the blaze without any further damage to the property with the exception of thermal damage to the vinyl siding of the main residence and the south exposure residence.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
