324 Palisade Drive - At 11:48 AM, a 911 call was received from a homeowner stating that a car had just crashed into the front of their house.
Mt Juliet Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene, along with an ambulance from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
FDMJ Engine-104 (C Shift) and WEMA Medic-10 (B Shift) arrived on the scene simultaneously. Captain Mike Leal [1103] advised that he had a car into the front of a 1-story residential structure and that the sole female occupant was out of the vehicle.
As firefighters assessed the damage to the structure, the crew of Medic-10 spoke to and assessed the driver of the vehicle, an elderly female. She stated she was uninjured and there were no outward signs of trauma or indications of a medical emergency.
Once the front porch area was shored up, the vehicle was removed from the structure by a tow truck operator.
The homeowner stated that he had contacted his insurance carrier and that an emergency response crew was en route to stabilize the structure and board up any openings.
The cause of the incident is apparent operator error, according the vehicle's driver who told officials that she was backing out of her driveway and was unable to apply the brakes before traveling in a large semi-circle down her driveway, and curving back into the yard of and into the front of a home two addresses to the west.
