20190509 - City of Mount Juliet - House Trailer Fire
11862 Lebanon Road, Lot 6 - At 12:35AM, Mt Juliet Police & Fire Communications received a report of a structure fire in the Mid-May Mobile Home Park. Units were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Three police units were the first to arrive, confirming an active fire. Squad-103 (C Shift), under the command of Lieutenant Drew Noland [1130] was first due and reported heavy fire showing upon arrival, and advised dispatch to implement the "Working Fire Protocol" -- This would bring one engine and one ambulance from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency to the scene, Middle Tennessee Electric, and Rehab-23 as well. The initial attack would be from the exterior.
Deputy Chief Chris Allen [Chief-102] arrived on the scene just a couple moments later and assumed command, with Lt. Noland supervising the fire attack group.
The main body of fire, which was located on the deck, was quickly knocked down and the fire attack group transitioned to an interior attack, extinguishing that fire which had extended into the kitchen.
Engine-104, under the command of Captain Michael Leal [1103] arrived on the scene and began supplying Squad-103 with additional water, and its firefighters assisted with suppression.
Chief of Department Jamie Luffman [Chief-101] arrived on the scene and assumed the role of accountability officer, questioned the homeowner as to the events that unfolded, and also addressed a member of the media that was on scene.
As firefighters finished putting out hot spots on the interior, a crew was also dousing some small fire areas beneath the trailer.
The fire was declared "under control" at the 20-minute mark. The structure was ventilated and searches were completed. The occupant had safely exited the structure with his two small dogs. Although there was only moderate extension into the home, it was deemed a total loss due to smoke, fire, and water damage. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to offer aid to the displaced resident.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Department of Mount Juliet.
In total, 11 Mt Juliet Fire personnel responded to the scene. They were assisted by Wilson EMA Engine-3 (A Shift) and Medic-3, And 5 volunteer responders from Wilson County Rehab-23.
