20190331 - Unincorporated Watertown - House Fire
1091 Shop Springs Rd - Just after 8:30 PM, firefighters from the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to a reported house fire.
The first arriving unit was Engine-11 (B Shift) under the command of Lieutenant Tamara Felts [703] who reported that the structure was fully involved and there would be a defensive attack only. One 2.5 inch attack line was stretched and suppression was started.
The second arriving apparatus was Engine-22 from the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department. Oe 1.75 inch handline was stretched from their engine and they assisted with suppression.
Additional responding Wilson EMA units included Engine-81, Engine-91, Medic-21, Shift Commander Lee Bowling [700] and Fire Chief / Deputy Director Jeremy Hobbs [901]. Watertown volunteers also responded with Rescue-22 and Tanker-21. Rehab-23 also responded to the scene to provide support.
Copious amounts of water were applied to the structure for nearly 4 hours knocking down all fire and quenching all visible hot spots, at which time it was decided to pick up and return units to service, knowing they would have to return to the scene in the morning to further extinguish fire which was under the sub-floor but was inaccessible due to the condition of the structure.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
