20190115A - Unincorporated Lebanon - House Fire
1357 Berea Church Rd - Just before 9:00 AM, Wilson County EMA firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house fire. The caller stated there were no visible flames, but there was smoke and they could hear cracking and popping, and that they would be removing an elderly woman from the structure.
Medic-91 & Engine-91 (B Shift) arrived first due. Captain Danny Clark [702] advised he had a one story modular home with heavy smoke showing, declared this a Working Fire and that he would be initiating an offensive attack.
Additional units, including Tanker-91, Engine-61, Engine-11, Rehab-23, deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, and a lineman from Middle Tennessee Electric were all en route to the scene as well.
Firefighters deployed two 1.75 inch handlines and began an interior attack. The fire had apparently originated in the main living space of the residence and had extended up into the attic void space where it spread. Crews spent a great amount of time pulling ceiling and chasing fire before safely saying that the fire was under control.
Firefighters rescued two cats from the fire and removed several possessions and old photos. Much of the structure itself was saved, however, due to smoke, water, and fire damage, it will likely be a total loss and will need to be completely rebuilt.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
