20181122 - City of Mount Juliet - Motor Vehicle Accident
Lebanon Road @ Tate Lane - Just moments before noon, a 911 call was received reporting a traffic crash with the occupant laying on the ground outside the vehicle. Police, Firefighters, and Paramedics were immediately dispatched.
Among the first arriving units was Fire Department of Mount Juliet Chief Jamie Luffman [Chief-101] who reported that this was a one vehicle accident and that he had one female with hip and/or leg injuries.
Mount Juliet Squad-103 (C Shift) and Wilson County EMA Medic-31 (B Shift) responded to the scene and assisted in providing aid to the woman and prepared her to the hospital for treatment.
Upon investigation, and according to witnesses, the operator of the vehicle, a 93 year-old woman, had pulled over to the side of the road to close an open gas cap on her vehicle. The driver apparently didn't shift the vehicle fully into Park before exiting and the it began moving in reverse. It is unclear why the vehicle accelerated, but in doing so, the woman fell from her vehicle and was partially run over resulting in her injuries.
The woman was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Medic-31.
