20180918 - City of Mount Juliet - Structure Fire
2022 Raven Crossing - Just before 6:15PM, Mount Juliet Police & Fire Communications received a call from a resident reporting that their back yard was on fire and that it was spreading to the trees and a fence. The Fire Department of Mount Juliet was immediately dispatched. The first to arrive was Deputy Chief Chris Allen [Chief-102]. After a quick inspection of the property he advised dispatch and the first due unit, Ladder-111 (A Shift), under the command of Lieutenant Brent Blamires [1111], that a shed and fence, as well as some trees were on fire and a 1.75" hand line would need to be deployed. Once on scene they did just that and went to work extinguishing the blaze. The engineer stretched a supply line to the nearest hydrant which was conveniently located in the front yard of the location. The fire was quickly controlled. Some trees and a few sections of the fence had to be cut away to ensure the fire would not reignite. The roofing material from a shed was pulled away and all the pile of ashes was given a good soaking. The fire was the result of the homeowner burning some fungi in the rear of the shed. The fire got out of hand and spread to the shed which extended to the trees and fence. The homeowners were cautioned about open burning in the densely wooded area so close to a structure. There were no injuries and no damage to the home.
