20180721 - City of Lebanon - Overturned Truck
Connector ramp from I-840 eastbound to I-40 westbound - At about 9:00 am, The Lebanon Police and Fire Departments, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to a report of a truck accident on I-840. Units arrived to find an overturned semi with a 53' box trailer hauling dry goods that had failed to negotiate the curve correctly and ended up at the bottom of a ravine.
The driver of the truck was able to climb out on his own and did not have any apparent serious injuries. The truck wasn't presenting any immediate hazards either. All but one fire engine from the City of Lebanon Fire Dept. cleared the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol and City of Lebanon Police Department remained on scene to work the wreck. The ramp would remain closed until the truck could be recovered and the debris removed.
One police officer on the scene stated that the truck was traveling at approximately 65 MPH as it entered the turn.
S&S Towing and Wrecker Service in Lebanon, and Hamblen's Wrecker Service in Mount Juliet responded to the scene to handle the recovery.
