20180531 - Unincorporated Lebanon - Structure Fire
7900 Block of Cairo Bend Road - At 5:46 PM, several neighbors witnessed a lightning strike to a 10' x 20' shed approximately 10' away from a residential structure. The shed immediately caught on fire. The neighbors ran to help with residential fire extinguishers, but they were little match. 911 was called and the fire department requested.
Firefighters from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency responded to the scene. The first arriving units were Engine-61 (A Shift) and Division Chief (Logistics) Marty Heckman [905]. Chief Heckman reported that he had a shed, fully involved and on the ground, and that there was some possible extension to the home. One 1.75" handline was stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire.
The balance of the assignment were Engine-91, Engine-11, and Shift Commander James Copas [600]. Upon his arrival, Commander Copas assumed command of the incident and ordered the second-due engine company to make entry to the home and check for extension. Upon closer inspection, Lieutenant Adrian McNabb [603] found that there was no extension to the interior of the home, and only the wall, eave and soffit on the B and C sides sustained exterior damage.
Once the fire was completely extinguished and the shed overhauled, firefighters packed up and returned to service. There were no injuries associated with this incident.
