20171119 - Gladeville - Tornado Damage Survey [Daylight]
Stewart's Ferry Road & McCreary Road - At approximately 5:00PM on November 18th, 2017, a confirmed EF-1 Tornado, with winds of estimated speeds of 100 MPH, touched down in the center of Gladeville causing damage to a church, several structures, a local ball park, and brought down several trees and power lines.
The Glade Church sustained significant damage to one of its doorways, and the steeple and the cross on top of it were substantially damaged. The cross was lifted and propelled through the roof of the church's sanctuary.
Utility crews worked through much of the night to clear roadways, and restore power to the estimated 1,100 people left in the dark.
Once there was daylight, a full and more thorough assessment of the storm's damage could be completed.
Many downed limbs and wires, and debris strewn about by the wind could be seen littering the small town.
No injuries were ever reported, and no homes appeared to be damaged.
