20170402 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - House Fire
257 Vanderbilt Road - At approximately 11:30 PM The Wilson County 911 center received a call from someone stating their neighbor's house was on fire. The call was transferred to the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency whose dispatchers quickly dispatched crews to the scene.
The first due units were Engine-41 and Medic-41 (C Shift) under the command of Lieutenant David Cross [802]. Upon his arrival he reported that he had heavy fire showing for a residential structure.
One 1 3/4" handline was stretched and suppression efforts began. The nearest hydrant was in the neighbors front yard, so a viable water source was quickly established.
The second due engine, Engine-31, arrived with Captain Fox [801] and a second 1 3/4" line was stretched to the rear of the house. As additional units arrived, crews were made assigned to complete various tasks.
After some time, the fire was darkened down and placed under control. Firefighters would spend some time overhauling the structure before the fire was deemed "out".
After about three hours on scene, crews were able to pick up and return to service.
The two occupants of the home were able to safely exit on their own without injury. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation at this time.
Update: Two hours later, at about 4:30 AM, crews were again dispatched to the same location for what was reported as a rekindle. Upon the Arrival of Engine-41, the house was fully involved in fire. Crews would remain on scene for an additional two hours extinguishing the blaze. Investigators would be called to the scene to investigate not only the first fire, but the second (rekindle) as well.
