20170319A - Unincorporated Lebanon - Barn Fire
3740 Gwynn Rd - Just after 1:00 AM, firefighters from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to a report of a barn on fire. Responding units advised they could see a bright orange glow in the sky from quite a distance away.
First on scene was Engine-51 [C Shift] under the command of Lieutenant Scott Lorden [804]. Upon arrival, he advised he had a fully involved large barn and accessing the structure would be a challenge.
After determining there were no roads that would access the scene, two 1-3/4" hand lines were stretched through a densely wooded area and suppression efforts began.
Firefighters were faced with a large pile of what used to be a barn, covered by numerous sheets of steel which were the roof. The barn contained a stockpile of straw, and what seemed to be numerous one-gallon paint buckets.
After multiple tanker shuttles of water from the nearest hydrant, which was a ways down the road, the fire was deemed under control.
The cause of the fire is at this time undetermined, but under investigation.
