20170309 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - House Fire
808 Harrisburg Lane - Just after 11:00 PM, a couple heard a loud boom [thunder] and the house shook. All the smoke detectors in the house went off immediately. They did not know what was truly happening until they stepped out of their garage and saw heavy fire blazing through their roof. They got everyone out of the house, called 911, and got their cars our of the garage and across the street.
Firefighters from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency were immediately dispatched to the scene. A few short moments later, Medic-101 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire through the roof of a two story residential structure. It wasn't long after that Engine-31 [C Shift] with Captain Fox [801] arrived on the scene and established command and initiated an exterior attack on the blaze.
Engine-51, Engine-41, and Tanker-91 arrived on scene a short time later, as well as Battalion Chief Danny Herron [800], and additional hand-lines were stretched to various areas of the perimeter of the house.
With all responding units now on scene, and a total of 10 firefighters (including officers), crews would rotate through work-rest cycles and work through the night to control the fire in this 3,600 square foot home.
One firefighter was treated for exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported. All 4 people in the home at the time of the fire made it out safely. The apparent cause of the fire is a lightning strike associated with a strong line of storms that passed through the area.
