20170128 - City of Mount Juliet - MVA / Building Fire
151 Adams Lane - Just before 6:00 am, Mt Juliet Police & Fire Communications received a call about a vehicle that had struck a building after losing control and driving off the side of the interstate. It was also reported that the vehicle was on fire.
Mt Juliet Police officers and Firefighters as well as an Ambulance from Wilson EMA were immediately dispatched to the scene. The first arriving police officer confirmed these reports and advised that the fire was spreading to the building, and that the occupant of the vehicle was able to remove themselves from the car.
Upon arrival, the crew of Engine-104 [A Shift] went to work attacking the source of the fire which was the vehicle since the building's sprinkler system was doing a good job of keeping the fire inside the building at bay.
As additional units arrived, crews forced entry into the structure from the front side and knocked down any remaining fire and hot spots. The incident was quickly placed under control. One person was transported to an area hospital.
One witness to the incident, a motorist on the interstate, stated that the vehicle was being driven erratically and at high speeds right before it left the highway and crashed through a fence and struck the building.
