20170107 - City of Mount Juliet - House Fire
416 Parrish Hill Road - At 12:30pm, Mount Juliet firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house on fire.
As units responded, smoke could be seen from as far away as South Mt Juliet. As a result, the shift commander, Captain Nick Ford [1101] notified dispatch to implement the "Working Fire" protocol which prompted notification of Middle Tennessee Electric, Wilson County Emergency Services Rehab Unit, and Wilson County EMA for an ambulance response.
The first due unit was Squad 103 [A shift] commanded by Lieutenant Jason Ross. Upon his arrival he reported heavy fire conditions in the garage with extension to the main portion of the residence.
Deputy Chief Christopher Allen [Chief 102] arrived on scene right behind Squad-103 and performed a 360 size-up. His report indicated that he had heavy fire from the front and rear of a two story wood frame residence.
As additional units arrived, (Engine-104, Tower-114, and Ladder-111) additional handlines were pulled and put into operation. The amount of time the fire had to burn before firefighters arrived made accessing the upper floor dangerous and with heavy fire throughout the attic, Tower-114's master stream was put into operation. After the main body of fire had been knocked down, crews were able to enter the structure and perform some extensive overhaul.
The cause of the fire was not known at the time this was written, but the point of origin is thought to be the garage, based on reports from the homeowner.
All Occupants and their pet cat were able to safely exit the structure, and no injuries to personnel or civilians were reported.
