20160511 - City of Mount Juliet - Building Fire
11853 Lebanon Rd - Shortly before 2:00 AM, an emergency call was received stating there was a fire in a strip mall style building at the above address. Dispatchers were able to determine that the building on fire was actually the Friendship Christian Church. Units were dispatched and responded almost immediately, since personnel had been up running storm-related calls all night.
Mt Juliet Police officers quickly arrived on the scene and reported that the building was fully engulfed.
A few moments later, Squad-103 arrived on the scene and reported they had a well involved commercial structure, and command was established by Lieutenant Michael Leal.
With this update, Shift Commander Captain Stephen Neible, who was responding on Engine-104 requested that Volunteers respond with the aerial trucks and to the scene, as well as additional resources from Wilson County Emergency Management.
As Engine-104 arrived on scene, it secured a water supply, and Captain Neible assumed command of the incident.
The bulk of the fire appeared to be in the cockloft, but there was some extension into the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the National Weather Service has confirmed that there was an abundance of electrical activity in the area at the time.
Units operating on scene included:
FDMJ Squad-103, FDMJ Engine-104, FDMJ Tower-114, FDMJ Ladder-111, FDMJ Chief-101, WEMA Engine-31, WEMA Medic-31, Rehab-23, WEMA Battalion Chief 800, WEMA Fire Chief 901, and additional assistance on scene provided by the Mt Juliet Police Department.
