20160403 - Unincorporated Mount Juliet - House Fire
1365 Northwest Rutland Road - Shortly after 8:30pm, Wilson County 911 received a call from a man stating his kitchen was on fire, and that everyone was out of the house. Wilson County EMA was notified and units were dispatched.
First on scene was Engine 31, quickly followed by Medic 101. Engine 31 reported smoke emanating from roof line, but there was no fire showing.
One 1 3/4" line was stretched to the front door, and the crew made entry. Upon opening the front door, heavy black smoke began to chug out of the house. The interior attack crew was able to quickly get water into the thermal layers to prevent a smoke explosion. They soon got water on the seat of the fire and knocked the main body down. Overhaul would take a while longer, but crews would call back in service and clear the scene in just about two hours from the time of dispatch.
The homeowner and his two dogs escaped without injury, and no injuries to firefighters were reported. The homeowner stated that the point of origin of the fire may have been the microwave in the kitchen.
