20160207 - City of Mount Juliet - House Fire
11677C Lebanon Rd - Ten minutes before noon on February 7th of 2016, The Fire Department of the City of Mt Juliet was dispatched to a report of a house on fire. Police arrived on scene and confirmed an active fire within the house, with fire showing through the roof. The first due unit was Squad-103, commanded by Lieutenant Michael Leal. He reported that he did have fire in a 1 story residential structure, and that attack would follow after his 360 degree size-up.
After speaking with the homeowner in the front of the house, confirming all occupants had evacuated, Firefighter Jacob Stafford and Lieutenant Leal made entry and advanced an 1 3/4 inch handline and began to search for the seat of the fire. Firefighter Guy Flowers would remain back to operated the pump and prepare additional equiment for the attack.
Additional units began to arrive on the scene including Ladder-111, Engine-104, Tower-114, Engine-31, and Medic-31, and numerous volunteer firefighters in their personal vehicles.
When Ladder-111 arrived on scene, its operator Volunteer Captain Chris Allen assumed command of the incident.
The incident was placed under control and the fire extinguished shortly after 2:00 PM and all units were in the process of breaking down and going back in service.
In total, 20 firefighters from Mt Juliet and 8 from Wilson Emergency Management were operating on the scene. 4 officers from MJPD assisted on the scene, and 3 members of the Wilson County Emergency Services Rehab Unit provided refreshments on scene.
Preliminary investigation shows the fire originated in the area of the wood burning stove.
