401 South Mt Juliet Rd, Suite 250 - At approximately 10:30 am, FDMJ and WEMA units were dispatched to NYNY Pizza located in the Providence Marketplace for a possible commercial building fire. An employee inside the business reported that there was a fire in the pizza oven and its duct work, which he attempted to extinguish with an dry-chem extinguisher. When Squad-103 [B Shift] arrived firefighters quickly assessed the situation and stretched one precautionary line to the front door. While the chauffeur, FF Sonia Lawrence prepared the engine to work, FF Mo Sills established Command. FF Caleb Roberts and members from WEMA Engine-31 entered the structure to investigate further. Not long after, Tower Ladder-114, chauffeured by Assistant Chief Jamie Luffman [Chief-102] arrived on scene and took a position on the B/C corner of the building. Once on the roof, firefighters found heat signatures in the 750 degree range, and a 2 inch handline was deployed from the bucket of Tower-114. After while, the smoke condition with was mitigated and heat reading fell to an acceptable level. There were no injuries to members or civilians, and no structural damage was reported, however the business will remain closed for some repairs.
