20180215 - Hermitage - Overturned Truck
Interstate 40 Westbound @ Mile Marker 222.6 - At approximately 12:00 noon, a Tractor-trailer traveling west on the interstate was attempting to change lanes when his vehicle contacted a ford explorer. This set off a chain of events which lead to losing control of the truck and striking an unoccupied vehicle parked on the side of the highway. The car was dragged 400+ feet down the shoulder, and the truck ended up on its side across all four lanes of the interstate.
Police and Emergency responders from Wilson and Davidson Counties were dispatched to the scene. It turned out that the incident began in Wilson County and Ended in Davidson County. Metro Nashville Police ended up handling the scene, and the drivers of the semi and the explorer were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
A dog which was traveling in the semi was taken by Metro Animal Control to be cared for until the driver could regain custody.
TDOT Highway Incident Management officials and a Tow company worked to quickly pull the truck from the lanes of travel to reopen the interstate.
