7963 Jericho Turnpike - At 1:45pm, the Syosset Fire Department was dispatched to an Automatic Commercial Fire Alarm at the Starbucks Coffee Shop, with a call-back from the establishment reporting smoke coming from the ceiling light fixtures. Upon his arrival, Chief of Department Pete Silver [5800] confirmed that he did in fact have a moderate smoke condition in the building. The two first due engines stood by hydrants, and Tower 582 & Quint 5855 laddered the roof. After a thorough search, a HVAC unit was determined to be the source of the smoke, and power to the unit was isolated. The coffee shop had to remain closed until visited by the Nassau County Department of Health.
